Cell phones and wireless communication devices are not discretionary technology anymore – they are a vital, integral part of so many critical services that they cannot be “turned off”. That’s like saying we should shut off the power to colleges at night so students don’t have parties, or turn off the water to hospitals because patients don’t shut the tap when they brush their teeth.

Now, I understand rules about requiring them to be shut off, but you can’t forcibly shut them off.

That would be fine. They should have the right to lose my business. On the other hand any restaurant or movie theater that did this would get my business.
