Hackaday links resurrection

Here is everything you should have gotten last night. I do use the Session Saver extension and it has saved me a lot of frustration in the past, but it didn’t save what I was typing in the web form.

If you’ve got a project that you want to show off like Seth and Doug did, feel free to drop us a line with a description. If we like it we’ll ask you to submit the story as plain text with markers where the images should go. All images should be reduced to 425px wide; we can link to larger ones if needed.

Some modchip developers have gotten their hands on an XBox 360 dev-kit and posted a ton of hardware pictures.

I mentioned Session Saver above. I also include Spellbound and Greasemonkey on my short list of essential Firefox extensions. Anybody else have a favorite they can’t live without?

As usual, we’re looking for the hook-up.

forecast fox, popup alt attribute, auto copy, IE view (so I can cross check my pages), fxif, MR Tech’s Disable XPI Install Delay, Gmail notifier. There’s more, but I don’t want to get flamed for my obsessive compulsive extension gathering.

  2. if you are still in touch with vince, ask if all of the sticker requests are filled out. i sent one like a month ago and never got anything back.

The extension I use most is developer toolbar (http://chrispederick.com/work/firefox/webdeveloper/). Even though I don’t do much web development, it is an awesome internet swiss army knife. Also useful as a CSS editor.

Tabbedbrowser preferences (http://216.55.161.203/theonekea/tabprefs/) is also a good extension because it adds a “new tab” button and some more preferences.

Finally, wikialong (http://www.wikalong.org/) is a good concept but it is not there yet because of a slow server and small community compared to the size of the internet.

in case your firefox crash again, try this:

*Copy /proc/kcore to a temporary file.

*Search (grep, ..) this file for the text of your post.

worked a few times for me.

  11. slash fury says:

Wow, I got linked? Rather surprising. I know, it’s not a great job, but it works. I still have to touch up a few things, such as the power button and controller port, so I’ll probably update more on it soon.

  12. WaferMouse says:

Looks like hackaday hosed the wooden laptop’s servers. I’ve heard of wanging and slashdotting, what should we call this?

I tried to build a cardboard boat, mine had the exact same success rate. Faliure. Who would of thought cardboard tends to take on water. Eh, chalk it up to expirience.

You don’t need a Linux box to run a SSH proxy, right now I’m running OpenSSH on an old Windows box at my house, complete with public/private-key logins. I’ve forwarded ports for Remote Desktop through the proxy, and I run Trillian and PortableFirefox through it, off my thumbdrive, for secure browsing and IM’ing just about anywhere.
