Of all the duxbury hacks, my favourite was definitely the person who fixed the dam. I know, not very tech, but it was incredible to see the major difference it had. Like they maligned in their flickr set, let’s just hope some smart-ass doesn’t come back with more boards to fill it in.

Also, I have recently fixed the symlink issue in the tar file. A fresh new tarball should be uploaded so that people can use the code again. Thank you everyone that pointed out that issue.

I like that clock. Granted, a clock that will outlive me and doesn’t appear to be movable doesn’t do much for me, but interesting idea.

The link to MidpSSH is EXCELLENT. I installed that app on my Sanyo MM7400 and it works perfectly. SSHing from my phone into my servers. I couldn’t ask for any more. :)

The make fair was pretty good. The hubby and I went down to the Dam at about 8. You can tell from the pictures that most of the projects have been featured on the make blog or in the magazine. Our fat mugs make an appearance in _at least_ one of the pictures on the site :)

The coolest parts were 1) getting a free copy of make (great for reading on the metro), and 2) seeing the e-paper reader in ‘real life’. The latter was the highlight for me. Oh yeah, free booze.

I’m not exactly sure, but I think part of his hack was to glue leather to the faceplate of his camcorder.

Whatever works I guess.

i once destroyed a burned copy of radiohead’s ‘the bends’ i had lying around with an electric fly swatter. touching the cd to the swatter generated a spark, launching a tiny piece of hot foil stuff flying across the room to land in the carpet, where it was a bitch to vacuum out the next morning.
