Remote control whiteboard

Whenever [sprite_tm] sends in his latest project, it’s like getting a Christmas present and a night off. He put together a whiteboard, x/y stepper system, serial interfaced microcontroller and added a webcam with perspective correction for the online view. Me? I’m tempted to build one of these for leaving notes for the wife when I’m out.

We have electronic whiteboards in my Computer Science and Engineering building which can share their contents over the internet… but I imagine they cost many thousands of dollars more than this.

Gahhh, had stuffed up my link,

  5. andrew says:

uhh, xswamp, i dont think thats the right link… ;)

best hack this month, hands down.

  7. cole says:

Now all that needs to be rigged up is a stepper motor actuated eraser.

  8. Does he not need to worry about the marker drying out?

  9. clint says:

This exact project was in circuit cellar magazine two months ago…

Looks like the perfect application for a pantograph to me… It would solve the problem of needing to actuate over such a large distance.

  11. chris says:

@ivan256 – I’m used to seeing a pantograph used for reduction, not enlargement. Although that does seem possible.
