[Harrison Krix] finished his Daft Punk Helmet replica and posted about it this week. We took a look at his work back in October but he’s come a long way to pull off a legendary build. Take three minutes after the break and see 17 months worth of work. So many skills were pulled together to make this happen; sculpting, mold making, painting, electronic design, mechanical design, and bad-ass-ery. Crammed in along with your noggin are a bag-full of LED boards but the Arduino that controls it all resides outside, in a project box tethered to the helmet. This is a masterpiece of socially-unwearable geek fashion.

i would add a hook and loop fastener or someting to fix the helmet on the head, since in a festivcal or something, one cannot grap the helmet and run away

@Bob Nobody I am very interested to know what you would have used for the light pattern and speed programming. There are probably many ways this helmet could have been done better or at least differently, and as he had never built a helmet before and was not previously familiar with programming, electrical board design, chroming, etc., the project has been a fun way to learn new things about prop-making. It’s a pretty good hobby to have that not only teaches you stuff but also rouses the rest of the online world to tell you how to do it better.
