The Phone Box

[Nerdindustries] had a interesting idea; “what if you could just flip a switch and call someone?”. This happens a lot, especially in companies where your trying to catch a certain someone who is always swamped in phone calls. The Phone Box is a basic Nokia cellphone that has a number stored into its speed dial. To help aid in communication the phones output is directed to a three and a half watt amplifier module ensuring that your going to hear it.

A delay circuit was made out of a basic RC network, so when you hit the switch the phone has a chance to power up and fully boot. Once the delay triggers it presses the speed dial button and off you go. Now someone has already asked “Why don‘t you just call them?”, and we got a kick out of the first answer “calling someone is NOT nerdy.”

    1. From the article:

Lately a friend of ours asked: “Why don‘t you just call them?” First off, calling someone is NOT nerdy. And secondly, we also do have our pride. Why should we call them, if they can call us?

    2. We are building ten of these boxes and send them out to the people we would like to talk to. If everything works out, they will flick the switch and then talk to us. Lately a friend of ours asked: “Why don‘t you just call them?” First off, calling someone is NOT nerdy. And secondly, we also do have our pride. Why should we call them, if they can call us?

Taken right from the link…maybe you need to do a little investigating…

  1. great hack, the most useful use is a home monitoring unit, JUST ADD MOTION SENSOR! and a lighted arm switch

not one person thought of a emergency call box / elevator telephone / 911emergency call box / securityphone / securityINTERCOM / lobbyphone / roomservice with operaterdialed&billed long distance … and

HANDSFREE SEARCH and RESCUE TEAM !!!

and finally add a cheap motion sensor and u got an alarm system, when armed phones u wit audio when intruder…
hmm im thinking of a very expensive home monitoring system by a MAJOUR company thats maybe about to go to court for something not relating to home monitoring haha …

if u didnt follow that its like a 500$ unit provided for cheaper assuming u pay the monitoring fees of like 50$/month when this pupppy is like minumum 10$/mo+tax and costs < 100$ :P:P:P

    1. … and i agree with that other guy, if its actually GSM then it’ll shread unshielded audio wires, if its not GSM then it depends on the system, my cell doesnt do it but gsm phones will do it from 5 meters away in some cases!

ive heard it get into school PA/intercom systems and u hear it unless your part deaf, or just used to it

of course none of that matters if its expensive shielded wire rated for more then audio, example a USB cable with connectors cut off
