Hackaday Links

It was a decent weekend and it sounds like I’m going to ToorCon.  Anybody else planning on attending?

Yesterday I asked for a decent hovercraft link. [lehmon] says he followed these instructions and it worked great. Mirrored at i-hacked.

  1. Speaking of RAR, can anybody explain to me why people distribute multi-part RARs via BitTorrent? I understand why they’re nice for direct downloads, but seeding them on BT seems, well… pointless, considering that BT’s features cover most of the reasons you’d want a multi-part RAR.

  2. ok i dont really see a point to the pope link, its actully kinda disrespectfully to anyone who actully belives that stuff, but oh well, does anyone know any good rocket plans, i wanna try to launch something in orbit heheheh :)

  3. 2D Barcode… why anyone in their right mind would scan the back of their DL and upload it to the referenced site is beyond me… Your only handing out personal identification information to whomever is at the other end….

  4. I’m going to Toorcon (easy since I live in San Diego anyway)… I also went to Defcon this year. The lock picking stuff was a blast! I wish there was going to be more lock picking information at Toorcon. In fact, I didn’t notice any… :-( Oh well.

There was a Defcon group that had a spherical robot. They had it at Defcon this year. It was amazing! It was driven by an internal pendulum. I plan on making a small, solar-powered version of one myself.

  5. The dude’s voice on those whax/auditor videos got on my nerves. He was baby talkin’ his way through each one. That, and the fact he can’t pronounce knoppix. Ive always heard it pronounced K-nop-icks, not K-nope-icks.

  6. Man, that barbie site made my day, I put it through an internet translator with hilarious results.
