enable bluetooth headsets on ipaqs

enable bluetooth headsets on ipaqs

here’s one hack a day pal lars sent in…

there is a reg. key you can edit to enable bluetooth headsets on ipaq.
put 1 insted of 0 in:

HKeyLocalMchineSOFTWAREWidcommBtConfigServices005Enabled=1

and add a DWORD Enabled=1 Enabled=1 to

HKeyLocalMchineSOFTWAREWidcommBtConfigServices006

and also there is a key in softwaremediaplayer that has somthing in the lines of play unsupported=0 (off) enabeling it must do something but i dont know what, but i supose U people could figure it out.

so if you have a bluetooth headset for your phone and have a bluetooth ipaq, there’s a good chance you can use your headset to listen to audio through the headset.

Any way to do this on a toshiba e830 pocket PC?

  2. macstibs says:

I have an Audiovox XV6600. (Not the same as an iPaq, but runs WM2k3se just the same.) My Services folder in the registry only has 4 services. There’s no 5 to change the dword in. Also, “Enabled=1″ isn’t a dword I see anywhere in my reg.

  3. fishfuzz says:

There’s a reason it’s not enabled by default – the quality stinks (at least it does on my 2200 series). Which is too bad – the headset profile is available by default on my new X50v, and it sounds pretty good.

  4. pof says:

I have the same problems as macstibs, using an I-mate PDA2k (HTC BlueAngel) which also runs WM2003SE.

I just found this site and am lost with the above directions. I want to listen to my audio via a “paired” Nokia Model 0277663 Bluetooth Headset. Can someone point me in a more detailed direction for instructions?

    Thank you!

If anyone figures out the registry setting for enabling audio streaming to a bluetooth headset under Windows Mobile SE, it would be a great service to the world. I listen to audiobooks and couldn’t care less about the sound quality but to be free of wires would be a great thing!

I hope this topic stays alive and some brilliant hacker comes up with a solution. (By the way, I use an i-mate Jam, tried this iPaq 6315 but this is a thousand times better)

  7. Pat says:

Guys, if you’ve got a phone edition device, the Audio Gateway profile is already enabled. There’s no need to use this hack. What you WILL need to do is route all of your system audio to the headset. For more detailed instructions, see the second screenshot in this article: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30765
    :)
Psylance, this will allow you to listen to your audiobooks.

This hack is included in Tweaks2k2 .NET but it only works in a few iPaqs (5400 is one of them) in the majority of them the sound quality is very bad and I said VERY BAD.

BTW, I don’t think that this hack in needed in any other brand.

I’m travelling in the U.S. right now (natively, I’m a Canuck) without my BT headset. As soon as I get back I’m going to give this a try. I would love to cut the wires I wear everyday.

I’ll let you know if it works.

Question: What happens if my phone rings when I am listening to an audio book? Can I pause and answer and then go back or is it a choice of one audio source or the other?

    it worked for my ipaq5450
but the sound quality suck soo bad
i am using Sony Ericsson HBH-660 (the one with LCD screen)

    the play unsupported=0 (off)
doesnt reli matter…both worked (on and off)

  12. Da_Blitz says:

play unsupported=0 in the media player reg settings is for the option “play unsupported file types”, so you can play an mp3 that you have just changed the exetension of (eg *.mp3 => *.1337)

helps for avi files with windows media content

  13. Linus says:

    and add a DWORD Enabled=1 Enabled=1 to

can someone pls explain what this means?

how do I locate the registry on pocket pc?

  16. j_M_ says:

I wasn’t able to get this hack to work with my iPAQ 4150. Is this a type-o, add a DWORD Enabled=1 Enabled=1 ?
You just add it once, right??

My headset will pair, and it discovers the headset service. When I try to connect, it fails with the following error:
Unable to initiate the bluetooth connection (Error code:0x81000006).

    Any ideas??

  19. Alan Gahtan says:

So does this work with the hp 4150 or not? And will it work with a headset that has a microphone. This would be very useful for VOIP applications.

  20. Petert says:

I have a IPAQ 4150 but have absolutely no idea how even to find the file to add the dword… what ever that is. Am I a lost cause or can someone tell me how to change this?

Can anyone post all of the values and such in the 0005 and 0006 for me? i wanted to see if i could get this to work but the two directories were not there

  22. Hmm… I just tried it and it doesn’t seem to work with my Bluetooth headset & Ipaq?

  23. Oren.R says:

Doesn’t work with iPaq rx3715 … the values are just not there, and there’s no point in adding them.
