Connect Your Handspring Visor To The Internet Via GPRS

Handspring Visor

This hack is for those of us die hard old skool types still making good use out of our Handspring Visor handhelds. You’ll also need a SonyEricsson phone with GPRS and an IR-port to make this work. This hack comes from Ola Eriksson, distant cousin in the Norwegian branch of the Sony Ericssons.

  1. So who cares if it’s old stuff? “Hack a day” doesn’t mean “never before seen hack a day”. I for one welcome our outdated hacked devices.

And if only I could find one of those top of the line newtons at an affordable price! ;-)

  2. nils, you pretty much have to scan e-bay for old parts and do a little refurbishing to get an affordable newton. This usually works pretty well, because a lot of companies are just cleaning out and doing dumps of their stock. So, if you can find affordable newton parts you can piece things together. And they’re still damn good.

If you’re into tooling around with old hardware and are used to surfing e-bay for good deals, I highly recommend it. It’s a wonderful little gadget. Happy hunting!

  4. I like it, because its still interesting and perhaps will inspire other hacks.

I wish though, Hackaday would do some hacks for the Rio Karma mp3 player. That would be so good because there are hardly none out there.
