SparkFun’s Free Day Is Nearly Upon Us…

As I’m sure many of you already now, today is January 7th. While that might not have any real significance normally, today this means that our favorite hobby supplier, SparkFun, is giving away up to $100,000 of electronic goodness. We know we have our shopping carts filled to the brim, and we’re sure that most of you do too. With the start of Free Day being roughly 10 minutes away, we recommend that everyone man their shopping carts…. This should be interesting…

  1. I can’t believe that you idiots are getting upset about a free giveaway. The freaking Google cache page is slow loading. There literally aren’t enough servers in the world to keep up with this load.

Call it what it is: A DDoS Lottery.

If you get through, you win. My hat’s off to those that have adapted, evolved, and overcome to figure out how to increase their odds. Those are the real hackers, the ones that should be pulling down the prize.

    Grow up.

  2. I even changed the timeout values both in router and laptop, to don’t get timeouts in almost hours of non reply from servers.
The NAT table and memory in the router are fine. The laptop the same.
And even can’t load the shopping cart page twice in matter of fithteen minutes.
I really don’t understand how the fuck the people it’s doing checkouts. Here, 2 hours 35 minutes to have in the cart 1 battery holder. And Can’t update the fucking quantity.
¿There is anybody here that sucessfully placed a full order?

  3. BTW… I was using the following to track the status:

    watch -n.5 ‘ss ein | grep -A1 207.174.76.106’

Then, I would watch the timer climb and the status. If it didnt hit Estab, or if it did and the timer kept climbing and falling, I just assumed i had no connection, esc’d out and reconnected. God, I love you, ss… oh and you too sf… (I didn’t forget you either HAD)

  4. nice. announce it to the world. now the whole world wants free shit and those of us loyal customers who actually buy stuff from sparkfun can’t get anything.
this is the first time i’ve been truly disappointed in hackaday. “hey man, nice shot”
