Cemetech’s ultimate calculator V2

[Christopher] piped up in our comments on a recent post about using laptop touch pads in other things, noting that he had done this on his Ultimate Calculator Version 2. What he’s done is upgraded his TI-83+ calculator to house a number of improvements and customizations. It now has a stronger RGB backlight so he can illuminate his screen in whatever color strikes his mood. He also integrated a PS2 port so he could use an external mouse/ keyboard. What brought this to our comments though, was the embedded laptop touchpad on the back that is also fully functional. He topped it all off with a rather pleasing paint job as well.

The funny thing is, we caught a glimpse of this thing in a previous post about networking these calculators.

I’m a fan! Good hack done well.

    I like it.
My TI-83+ does not have a backlight, so any backlight would be “stronger”. I’ve wanted to add a 101 keyboard to mine for a long time. I was just going to use the output jack, but this seems a better way to go!

every calc needs a racing stripe :P

tho i think my TI-89 has more than enough for me XD

I see an enter button! This isn’t reverse polish, is it? Please!

That’s supposed to be PS/2, not PS2, there is a HUGE difference.

As for the calculator, it’s really well made. Too bad it’s not a Ti-84, since I actually have one of those. D:

    • I chose to do this on a TI-83+ instead of an 84+/SE because (1) I have many more 83+s, so it’s less of a problem if I break one or two while creating the mod and (2) the TI-83+ has much more space in the back of the case to fit in mods and circuits.

It is very nice, although I wouldn’t have considered painting over the button labels, but that’s just me.
