Come one, come all, to an epic Reddit AMA.
It’s been almost two years since our last “Ask Me Anything” and it’s an understatement that ‘sort of a lot has happened’ since then. We changed parent companies, expanded our writing staff, hosted our first live event (and a few smaller ones since), launched Hackaday Projects, and now we’re in the middle of The Hackaday Prize.
Any question is fair game (that’s why they call it an AMA) so now’s the time to get that query that’s been bugging you answered.
You will need a Reddit account to ask questions or to vote them up and down. But anyone can read the thread without logging in. Speaking of threads, we can’t give you a link yet because it won’t be available until we start at 10am Eastern Time on Thursday, June 26th. But watch the top of the blog, we’ll publish another post as soon as the link is ready!
UPDATE 6/26/14 9:25am Eastern: The Reddit thread is now live. Please feel free to start adding questions. Answers will start in 35 minutes.
i’m going on a limb here and say he meant 26th…
Ah-ha… fixed.
I’ve gotta ask, and I mean no disrespect in any form, How do you pronounce “Szczys”?
(french guy here) the overlords told me to say it like “stizch” aha
You totally beat me to this one. I was all ready to type out exactly that question…

I knew a guy who just called him Mike D., so I was curious as this really was not his real name. After seeing his actual name, I retreated to first option.
I was laboring under the conception that it had no pronunciation. However, this Pronounce Names website says it’s “stish”: http://www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/szczys
I have not seen this site before. But yes, Stish is how my name is pronounced.
This should have been an AMA question… Now we’ll have nothing to talk about ;-)
I though it was pronounced sexy
I know I’m wrong, but I can’t help pronouncing it in my head as “scsi” :)
I had a buddy way back in time name Schozlas and his nickname was “Scuzzy”, but I always envisioned it in my head “SCSI” lol
RE: All the events hackaday has done the past year or two
Hats off Mike, the writers, and the evil parent company. :p The hackaday prize is probably one of the coolest contests ever…There’s quite a few projects on hackaday projects that interest me. Just don’t let the accomplishments get to your head, keep pushing for more.
Scheeeeshhhh
In the future, more timezones/at least saying what it is relative to GMT would be helpful
Good point, sorry. I used Eastern time because it’s the standard on the r/Iama subreddit.
Eastern time is GMT -4 right now.
