wow, this is pretty interesting. someone has figured out how to get all the fonts and graphics off the ipod’s firmware. while that’s a pretty amazing feat, i suspect the next thing will be to change the firmware with new graphics, i’ll see what i can figure out!

Movies On An Ipod Photo
here’s the ipod-photo-movie-hack that is making the rounds. some of you sent some emails when it appeared on g4tech tv’s the screensavers as well as a couple other places like /. it’s nothing spectacular, just exporting a lot of images from a movie and importing them back in. old trick, all the way from the newton days. you can of course get a real portable video player like an iriver. any way, at the end of the article is some stuff i’m working on with goggles + the ipod photo.
Powerpoint On Ipods And Portable Media Centers
there’s a new tool (for macs) that will export powerpoint, pdfs and keynote slides for use on the ipod photo, $18 or you can use my how-to to do the same. an ipod photo, portable media center or any device that plays photos will do. might be a good way to get the boss to let you expense one of these. in the how-to i pump the images out to a headset display, which is part of a cool project that’ll i’ll post about later.

Ipod Photo Diagnostic Mode
so i picked up an ipod photo so i can write some articles and hacks with it (see the sacrifices i make!)–wait until ya’ll see what i’ve got cookin. any way, i’m a little bummed that the ipod remote doesn’t actually advance, play or pause the photo slideshows, but pressing the buttons on the ipod does. so, i’m starting to hack around to see what i can come up with. here’s something i found that might be useful for other things, the ipod photo diagnostic mode which allows you to test a few things, we also posted up the ipod remote data earlier.
