Got my t mobile Sidekick 2 Unlocked today. http://www.sidekick-tech.tk do all sidekick unlocking remotely, they sent me cable and software to unlock – took 5 minutes and now it has full data services on my post pay and prepay cards. Really pleased.

Ok I have something to say. This will clear up somethings for people that didn’t get the OTA yet. I got the update the day they released it I was one of the testers. Now reading all of theese comments I seen that someone said that with the OTA 2.3 that you can download movies, music, have a web cam on yahoo, ECT.. THIS IS NOT TRUE I’m sure the person that posted this has not even gotten the OTA yet, I looked at almost all of theese comments but I got almost to the bottem and skiped to the end.. TO MANY OF THE SAME QUESTIONS! Here’s a common thing that need to be known by some people, unlocking a phone means to unlock it so you can use it on another network (example, using your sidekick with a cingular sim. This doesn’t mean to unlock it for ringtone uploading!). A few more things I would like to say is that emailing ringtones to your self cannont be uploaded to you phones ring tone folder if you own a T-Mobile branded phone. the only way this can be done is if your sidekick 2 is on the Fido network ( which would mean its branded by Fido ) becuse t-mobile is to stengy and they would be lost if they didn’t get the extra little bit of money they get from us for purchasing crapy ring tones! ( they truly SUCK! ) few more things to clear up… These are for the questions that didn’t get anwsered.. On the OTA 2.3 things that would normaly move on a computer will not move on a sidekick.. STILL! You can not stream music from webpages.. They did add it where you use pictures from you photo gallery for the lock screen! Java scirpt has been added! Well I think that’s all! Hello everyone. My name is Drew. I live in rochester NY. In total 20 of my friends including myself own the sk2. 8 of which have received the update. Put simply its just going to take time to send out. For the guy who asked earlier NO you can’t delete the update. I have seen the update and yes there are some special things but its not worth getting all freaked out about.

I just spent a good 45 minutes reading over all the comments people have left on this website. After doing so, I realized one thing that is for most certian… We all want our own ringtones!!! I know I do, becasue that’s the only reason I even stumbled on to this website. Anyway, here is an idea that might help us all…
Problem:
The “Dev Key” isn’t available anymore, unless you can prove that your a developer or you can get a developer to co-sign for you. Ok… I know that sucks ass, yes!
Proposed Solution(s):
But, there is a very easy way of getting around this bitchy problem. Here are my different strategies…
1.)
You, the very hardcore and talanted developers out there, can sell to us regular people, an authorized co-sign for a reasonable price. That way, under your co-sign we can also have our own “Dev Key.”
2.)
Instead of selling us your co-sign, you can sell to each of us, a simple yet unique bundle file (a build file needed to be uploaded in order to recieve a “Dev Key”) for a reasonable price, so that we ourselves claim it and use to recieve a key.
Whichever you smart developers choose to go with, you must also provide one other thing. A program simular to “Hiptone XP*”… So that we can use our aquired “Dev Keys” and then be able to change the default ringtones on our SKs into our own made or own aquired ringtones.
* Hiptone is a dev program released a while ago which enabled developers to do what we all are dying to do… Transfer over and dedicate music on our SKs as ringtones. They could add on new audio files along with the default, or even better, get rid of the default and replace with their own. Unfortunatly, Hiptone XP has been stopped. Also, after the update for the SK downloads, it will format the enitre system, causing your new ringtones to be deleted…
SO WE REALLY THIS TO COME THROUGH FOR US!!! DEVELOPERS HELP!!!

Okay….I have read all of the posts and I have not read anything about how to disable pop up blockers or firewalls. I do know how to disable and enable javascript….don’t need help with that. I am trying to watch this music video but every time I try to view it a message pops up saying “must disable pop up blockers”….how the hell do I do that sidekick geniuses…..help!

Okay to everyone that wants to get your own ringtones TOO BAD because the only way to do that is with hiptones which is/was only available if you have a developers key. The only way to get a dev key is to be able to program. So therefore if you want to get your own ringtones learn to code in java. I’m definately taking a class in Java and C++ (to make nintendo ds games) next semester so I know I will have a dev key before too long but you idiots can’t compile a full gramatically correct sentence much less a valid hiptop application. Those of you who I’m not referring to know who you are yet those of you who I believe should die a lonely death and be left to rot and be picked at by buzzards in the sahara desert probably believe I’m talking to someone else.
Oh yeah, has anyone else gotten a little too used to the sidekicks auto correct? When using AIM on my computer my grammar goes to shit now. il doesn’t switch to I’ll on a PC :P

Ok this kind of sucks. I got the update (thanks gaymes) but I still can’t dowload/upload. Can’t write on Xanga.com anymore…. And some other bullshit. Blah. The only cool thing is that you can see more colors and other useless stuff (thanks to Javascrypt) . But, they didn’t update the browser. So can’t do much.

Found a site you can listen to music on your sidekick. Browse through hundreds of songs, They email you full songs in like secounds, can’t make them to ringtones =(

ok for those of you who cant wait for the update 2.3 heres how you can get it …
i would post why it works but judging from a lot of your comments most of you wouldnt under stand
lets start
1 go to jump screen+then meun .. selct conrols and then wireless (turn it on and off three times… the last time leaveing it on) exit out of this screen and then to main screen
2.. press jump+shift+s buttons then look for the syslog to say updating memory notifiction or a series of #’s by the word bytes ,this is is a good sign that your update is coming
3look at the g7 and see if the 7 wiggles non-stop …. if it stops wiggling proceed to turn your sidekik no/off watch athe 7 again, continue to repeat this step untill the 7 is wiggling non-stop
4… after the 7 is wiggling non-stop repeat step2 and dont touch your sidekik , leave it on that jump screen and wait for the system to promt you to update your sidekick
you need to sign out off aol and be in a place where recieving a signal is not a problem the whole procees takes about 30 to 45 mins but it works
