a new week! yes, yes yes. thank god. right now i’m taking a hardcore math test that i’m probably bombing, but that’s ok, i have you guys to entertain.
you will be pleased to know i’ve got the stickers designed and done and they’ll be sent out to be made and delivered soon! i’m also working on the 3rd podcast which should be really cool. i’ve got just the right knicks and knacks for it.
so, let’s get down to some links for your monday pleasure and reading.
make your own lightsaber. yeah. you can do it. [XyTec]
i found this to be cool. get free ipod headphones, docks, and more. (you’re hacking the system. fair enough right? plus free stuff.) [mark]
see if you can find it here (it’s still up for me). cnn has a video telling the world about “hackers” and how horrible they are. my view? go to hell cnn.
oh by the way, when you bootleg a movie, do it right.
i’m also picking up my AIBO after my test, I’ll be sure to show him off tomorrow. so after a long hiatus, prepare to see a lot more aibo hacks.
a creative, yet expensive, access point before the linksys WRT was around. [mina]
a russian DJ goes and makes a cassette mixer. pretty wicked. [yauch]
want all the fun of easy to make lazy afternoon hacks? well go here for some fun. [joe]
and by now i think we’ve all heard about how a third-party processing firm had 40 million credit card numbers stolen. yipes.
a little more information on the cnn thing please? i couldnt find it
At the right, there is a ”Watch: Secret of hackers”, javascript pointing at ”javascript:cnnVideo(‘play’,’/video/tech/2005/06/18/sieberg.secret.of.hackers.cnn’,’2005/06/25′);”
Sounds pretty lame to me, the guy uses a tool similar to MiniStumbler on his commercial 2, 000$ celphone, then talks for a while of things that every grandmother on the planet heard at least once and then CNN shows for half a sec an hex table from nowhere… probably the most useless report i’ve seen so far.
Thanks, too little sleep last night = lack of observational prowess. That video was sorta moronic. I want the dudes nokia though. That phone/PDA is hott.
I’ve made 2 of the lightsaber hilts from the bigyellowbox site. It’s great that someone went to all the trouble to find a good base set of parts that work well for these props.
Unfortunately, as great as the hilts look, they always draw the same 2-part response:
1. does it really work?
2. then whats the point?
For those who want to go all the way, this is the definitive tutorial on making duel-worthy polycarbonate electroluminescent blades:

The Free Ipod Dock link is down…wonder what that said?
>link is down
Well, it isn’t down, but I host at port 81 at the moment and sometimes that causes trouble, especially behind strict firewall-settings (workplace?). Try it somewhere else and it’ll work :-)

http://www.hacklog.com/category/technology/computing/hacked-hardware/ ->don’t know if you know this, but some site is posting hackaday posts on their blog…
Can some good fellow please post a direct link to the wmv video file, since the CNN site and their javascript hellscript is preventing me from viewing it (saying I need windows media player). I am sure all non-windows people would appreciate this.
to #8
The articles below the hackaday post is from the MAKE RSS feed…. wonder if somebody just put together a site that combines a ton of feeds?
I tried getting some new headphones but Apple requires you to give a credit card number and pay $49 if you don’t return the damaged equipment…so it’s not really free stuff.
the “free earphones / dock” thing totally doesn’t work.
you HAVE to provide c/card details and if you don’t return the busted stuff they charge you anyway.
did someone actually manage to score free shit, or is this just plain wrong.
this is the direct url to the CNN video

Where are your stickers getting developed? I run a sign shop and will soon start mailing stickers for sponsored websites.
in soviet russia, tape mixes YOU!
Thank you adam for the link in #13
hahaha tape mixes you. nice.
ipod crap here: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/index.html?lang=en&co=US&serialNumber=
It didnt ask me for a credit card, my ipod is older than 90 days but younger than one year.
Does that ipod thing work if you have a hp ipod? cause i want an extra pair of headphones
i tried the ipod thing, and it worked. i recieved the dock the next day. if y’all don’t believe me, check out the pics on my site: http://www.intelligentcanuck.com/ipoddock
I have been pulling the warentee trick on apple for over a year now. Its a shame to see my secret has gotten out. I just did the form to get a dock though, we’ll see how that goes. The email said that i’d have to send it back or else they’d charge my credit card. If that is the case i’ll just send theirs back. Good luck to everyone else. Everyone hurry up and get as many as you can before apple starts requesting POP.
It’s good to see that everyone on hackaday thinks that stealing from Apple is a “hack”. Way to further tarnish the “hack” term.
jusy got my dock today (damn that was fast) the letter explicitly says “Please do not return the defective part to apple”
re: iPod scam.
What the hell is wrong with you people? Do you brag to your friends about shoplifting too?
I ordered the new docking station yesterday (never even owned one, i have the U2 ipod), and it was sent here TODAY (very next day!) and It says not to return the defective part..!
“my powermac g5 is broken… can i have a new one?”
