IPhone OBD-II App

Rev by DevToaster is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows real-time monitoring of vehicle ECU data from the OBD-II port. Rev interfaces with a WiFi OBD-II dongle.

If your check engine light is on or flashing, REV is able to check the engine code, list all of the engine codes stored in the vehicle, and reset the stored codes or check engine light.

Rev is able to monitor real-time; vehicle speed, RPM, fuel consumption, engine coolant temp, fuel pressure, calculated engine load, throttle position, intake manifold pressure, air intake temp, timing advance, mass air flow, fuel level, barometric pressure, EVAP system vapor pressure, and fuel trim.

A brief video of REV in action is after the break.

  1. ok so say i have an auto pc can i run this app on my pc or win based auto pc ,so i can use either my auto ps indash touch screen or the iphone to operate it?also i heard the adapters constantly draw power from the obd port so it would be nice to have 1 with a little wire with a button at the end to turn it on or a relay that turns it on and off with the ignition, and better yet have it intergrated into roadrunner or centrafuse or othe auto ps software,im not sure if roadrunner can access the obd via wifi or if it has to be plugged in the usb

What dongle are you using? Can’t help if you don’t include this important info! If it’s a blutooth version, it’s because apple doesn’t allow alot of Bluetooth devices to hook up ( gps’s, OBDII, ect) you need to jailbreak and install roqyBT/roqyOBD, this will allow interface with BT obdII scanner’s.

  3. You can now (as of Oct. 2, 2012) get a BlueTooth OBD2 Scanner tool on Ebay for About $16 with Free Shipping (USA dealers) or you can order it directly from the manufacturers in China for under $10 + Free Shipping (Auctions only).

Has anyone tried these with their Garmin GPS’s? The new 1300, 1400, 3700 and 3400 series use a similar OBD2 tool made by Garmin to show the Engine Data on their GPS using their built software called ECOROUTE.

  4. I’m wondering if an obd2 GPS tracker can be hacked. is there a way to make the tracked vehicle seem to be not moving on the GPS map but yet the vehicle is actually moving.
