  1. Open source is good PR if you want the techs to love you. And cloud-based services’ PR, I suppose, should naturally target techies and not the end users. Just don’t forget how .Net came about, Microsoft had the intent of building a Java clone that was incompatible with Java and was sued and had to give up on it. At the time it was considered as a move to disrupt Java… I don’t think they are currently doing the same to Linux but you never know. But you said it all: Microsoft wants to be a cloud business and most of the cloud runs on Linux… If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.
