a hardware hack, a software hack, and a case mod all rolled into one. here is how you can turn an actiontec router into an smb/cifs honeypot that’s contained inside a lamp

Best router ever, hands down.
Why doesn’t the lamp flash with activity? I would’ve expected at least that.
that would be too distracting..
Yeah, that or cause epileptic fits.
does that stop most case modders? i think not.
yeah, thought of that, woudln’t be too difficult since the LEDs are already there for network traffic. (can’t control pins directly on the board) anyway, it would drive me insane, I actually use it as a normal lamp.
I actually thought this was a pretty interesting hack. My wife is a potter, for real that is what she does for a living, this gave us alot of ideas.
She hates having all types of hardware hanging all around. This gave us the idea of “hiding” some of the hardware we have.
Am I the only one who thought of the hacker term “honeypot” when I viewed the title and read the short article?

Pretty sure that was the point… A double meaning. Honeypot in a honeypot lamp. Thus the fakesmb honeypot program.
link broken, this one works: http://jarv.org/honeypot.shtml
