When you see $125 off something you probably assume it cost several times that to start with. Nope, this drastic discount leaves just $25 plus shipping. Use coupon-code: 2JLP-R4XRT3 when ordering the little rover. There’s a quick video snippet of it embedded after the break.
What you’ll get is a Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller on a board with a bunch of goodies.
- MicroSD slot
- USB host and device connectors
- I2C audio with speakers
- Ethernet connector
- 96×6 OLED display
- Motors
- Optosensors
- Bump detectors
As always, we want to hear about the hacks you come up with once you have this little guy in hand.
[update, the code is now expired]
[final update — Someone from TI explains what is going on.]
—- from the comments.
As some posts already note, the coupon code is only available to ESC Boston attendees. That said, we’re psyched about all of your interest and understand there seems to have been some confusion, so TI plans to fulfill all of the finalized orders to date. We’re working on some logistics in getting the code up and running again for ESC Boston attendees, but proof of ESC registration will be required. Stay tuned.
We hear you about the e-store and are working as quickly as possible to avoid issues in the future. Thanks for your patience.
Bottom line – we’re glad to see the excitement around EVALBOT and look forward to checking out your projects! We encourage you to share them on our e2e Forums at http://e2e.ti.com/

Even Sparkfun’s server held up longer than TI’s. And they were practically giving away $100 free! Free!
tried to order earlier but took to long and eventually had to head home. Now it looks like they probably need to clear out logs or something cause their server done run out of space.
there’s software (two trial versions, one time limited, and one limited to seven user variables) here:
http://micrium.com/page/downloads/os-iii_files
aw, internal stack fall down go boom.
@stib
Yeah, I’m also looking for ways to get code on there, while mine gets shipped.
If micrium ever asks you for credentials, bugmenot has them.
gheesh, i hope someone @ TI is getting fired… i probably won’t buy one now (and the 2 launchpads i was thinking about getting) (changed my mind), but i would have 3+ hours ago…
Lol, got an email confirmation (6537) followed by one saying it ‘failed authorization’ and I should go back to their website to ‘re-authorize’ it. Of course, the website is now completely dead :(. Hoping it’ll still go through as planned tomorrow.
its back up. order went through within 5 mins
Same Experience. Site went up a few minutes ago, checkout was very fast (also grabbed one of the $4.30 MSP430 dev boards). Free shipping.
I received confirmation as well as failed authorization emails. Fingers crossed.
The code is still good!
Just got mine :) should have bought 3 at this price.
I bet these get back ordered like months because of you HAD! lol. Can anyone say xmas gifts.
Got mine too, awesome site came back up!
Finally got through.
I hope they don’t get back ordered. Was going to buy a different eval board based on the same proc family for $100. I need it sooner than later for my undergrad capstone. There is a lack of documents for this thing on TIs website tho. Keeping my fingers crossed that both i2c and 2 or more pwm lines are broken out on those headers.
Luminart Micro mcu’s are the shit btw. I highly recommend them. Especially the ones with ethernet MAC and PHY(!) onboard.
#6553 @ 11:10 PM on Oct 4th
Judging from the delay getting my Launchpad, I will see this sometime next Spring….. :{
Still……..not a bad price!!!!!!!
Hooray the sites up again :-) Purchased mine!
Got mine #6551. BTW could not get past the customs popup in firefox but tried IE and it worked.
Site is back up and coupon code still works. Just bought mine for $25.
How do you use the coupon code?
Woo! Awesome birthday present for me! Too bad the coupon is only good for one rover per person; I’d have bought 3. ;_;
#6608
It just occurred to me that this has USB host… so I reckon I’ve finally found a platform I can control using my Chronos watch!
It’s 1:15AM Oct-5th, Just Scored one for the $25 Shipped. Thanks for the article. MUCH Appreciated.
What a PAIN that TI Store is..
wish they provide the schem, reverse engineering it is going to be pain. is at least the base source available? looks like a big project comming up.
Got this last week (the coupon code was given out at ESC ~2 weeks ago). I got a copy of the book at the con as well, and chatted with the TI / Stellaris team… they’re good people. Definitely a neat platform to play with uC/OS on… not enough pin headers on it, though.
Now I just need the wireless module and the wristwatch they had at the booth to control it…
Oh god, the loading is killing me ~ ~
Here’s the demo projects:
http://micrium.com/newmicrium/uploads/file/evaluations/uCOS-III/Micrium-Book-uCOS-III-LM3S9B92.exe
Source is a bit crazy, I’m hoping someone scans the book/or documentation is made available online.
They seem to use custom variable types for a lot (simple renames), too… Wondering how/if the GCC options could be made to work on this.
Come on TI, clean up some disk space and get that store back up and running! :)
Looks like the entire estore is now down. Well done, HaD viewers!
I hope the coupon still works when the website starts working again. I thought TI would have learned to do better after the website failure when the released the $4.30 msp430 microcontroller dev board.
Ha, apparently TI ran out of disk space.
I hope I fracking still have time to order one. >.<
Hi guys,
I ordered one for my self and one for my mate just today (5th October) and the coupon still works! Although on my second basket i forgot to fill in the coupon and was charged 149$ so i’m trying to contact T.I to cancel the order. Does anyone know an email address or any other method to contact T.I sale representative beside calling them? There are zillions numbers on their page i just can’t figure out which to call and i’m from Aus so the time different is a pain T_T.
ASP.NET sucks, it sucks big time. TI store is not working… again.
whats going in TI? look like they in desperate need of new clients
Wouldn’t call that desperate. It’s pretty smart really, selling pretty much high-end gear for almost free is sure to attract a lot of attention, which means that they’ll get a shit ton of new customers.
Website online again!!! Just ordered mine, #6680. How cool! Thanks haD! ;) <3
That all of five minutes it stopped loading error pages I rocked it out! Go internet, go!
And this is an amazing marketing strategy by TI. I’m becoming a huge fan of the corporation in general because of their amazing hardware deals for the home tinkerer.
I was talking to my brother, and we decided to call it “perfectly devious marketing”.
@Dids
I totally agree that it will atract fresh from college engineers but mine question is why now ? (Microchip was doing this as long as they exist, Atmel did not lift a finger but get lucky with arduino rise) So such radical changes make me wonder if TI predicted financial problems if they don’t change anything
Wondering how long I have to wait for this. Still waiting for my Chronos I ordered in january. :(
Took me 14 hours, but it worked !
Order #6716.
Thanks HaD! Thanks TI!
People really need to set up some kind of traffic shaping for this… Maybe some king of portal that dishes out a maximum of (say) 1000 cookies that allow access to the estore, with a 10min inactivity timeout.
The portal would get smashed but would be easier to super oversize, and its code would be ultra simple.
Order Number 6692 , first order nr here mentioned was 5704 :) , to bad it seams the bot with the book is sold out… would not mind to pay the extra 50$ to get the book…
W’ll see what we do with it when it gets here in a month or 4 :)
and it looks like you can use that coupon only 1 time… “you are no longer allowed to use this coupon.”,
now let’s try with a different account :)
Got one finally, free ship to AU,
and no, i wont use it for military purpose…:P
O nooooooo:

Uff!
Finally got mine (6784).
I think the appearance of the shop changed every time I got the “you are a bot”-message.
The last time the shop looked totally different than ever before.
Phew! #6794.
After 30 min of anxious clicking I finally managed to pass.
No “bot” problems though.
Still serving: order #6830.
Got mine tonight. Order # 6846
@epokh
It says that to everyone (or at least to me every time I tried). If you look, nothing has been removed.
Oww yeah, ordering went fine!!
Thanks HaD!!!
This ‘ll make an excellent bot for my son :D
gonna plug a webcam on it and a wireless router..
we’ll see what happens next..
ps can anybody give us a link to a (free) pdf version of the book? or just some more documentation?
Thanks
Looks like the site is still stupidly slow :(
