key unlocking has been removed for several weeks now.. I guess I am turning off my Tmobile service and getting a smartphone

I hate to break the news to you, but this procedure is dead. I signed up 2 weeks ago, and the key url has been offline since. The procedure has been changed, now in order to get a key you have to apply individually and you application will be reviewed. No more just getting a device key just because you want to install apps. I’m hoping for a hack that gets around this. The published hack actually killed itself. It became too popular. :(
My problem was that I waited to actually get my Sidekick II before I went to sign up for a key….
oh well.

your contract says you get 14 days to return it.
I don’t know if its the same type of unlock key that T-mobile will give subscribers. Just like they do for other GSM phones.

They’re not shutting it down, they’re just redesigning it so that they don’t have most of the people just asking about how to throw ringtonez on their phone. They want to keep it a community.

when using the Aim software in the sidekick 2 hold the button with the 3 stipes going down and press J a creen will pop up that said enter the chat rooms name u wish to enter. and thats how u enter chatrooms on the sidekick 2.

the sidekick 2 has a secrect game hidden inside the programs. to acsess this press the the button that has the 3 stripes and goot to settings then go ABOUT SIDEKICK an screen will appear then hold down the button with the 3 strips then hold down shift then tap #8 and the game comes on. have fun

There’s a way to run a diagnostic program on the sideckick II. Go to menu-sytem info-and press menu+shift+D. The diagnostics checklist will appear and you could either run all of them or individual.

alright check it out the u hit the menu>shift>s and tracer screen pops up den press menu and go through the list and mess around with the programs and the tracers and after that you will come across the java script. once you turn off the java error u can play games. wat i don’t understand is why t-mobile and hip top never told any one about this. and thanks for the props.

I did the jumpbutton+shift+s and then menu again and a menu popped up and it had “other debug tools” in it, when i select that it has java messages only. select that and theres a list of stuff in there but I don’t know what it’s for and I can’t change anything in it. Ok people….the whole java screen(+shift+s) its just a tracers screen….its like a command bar. It tells the commands and stuff you’ve done. You can’t unlock java from it. They only way to do anything on your sk is to get a devkey other than that there’s nothing worth while.

The “light” on the dvice, in the area that says “tmobile”, is a light sensor and cannot be turned on. To turn on the multicolor LED raver light, perfect for giving E-Tards lightshows with (and very useful as a flashlight, with the green light on), from the jump screen go to menu – settings- system info. When in system info, hold down menu+shift+D. This brings up diagnostics tests. Uncheck everything but “flash LED”, then scroll down to the bottom and click on “start tests”. Then, hit the check mark looking button to cycle thru red, green, or blue superbright light. Mmm chik mmm chik Mmm chik mmm chik

for ringtones guys just convert mp3s to wav’s and send them to ur email.As long as its less then 300kb itll play as ur ringer. U can edit the sizes of the wavs with windows sound editor and just cutting it to your desired size. Hope this helps. I do all my ringers its easy!

well i recevied the 2.3 ota last week its pretty nice visable changes are that the phone icon is different, it has javascript now, when ever u take a picture u can see a new loading screen, able to use pictures u take as a screensaver now, a sim center , and on AIM you can now view Buddy Icons and the away messege right next to the screen name, and how long they have been idle

I was on my SK2 couple of weeks ago and went into a chatroom (you know by holding down menu+shift, or menu+shift+j), and as soon as I got in the room I some how “left the chatroom”, but I knew I did no such thing, so I tried to go back in that very same room again: and it happened again! The third time I went in and typed: “I know you jackasses are booting me, and I’m going to find out how” One of the jackasses said no you won’t, and once again I was kicked out of the chatroom.
I wasn’t upset, but I was trying to find out how the hell do people know how to boot a person on their SK! That’s cool, does anyone know how to? Someone said if your the first in a SK chatroom then you can boot ppl, uh yea that nice, but once I’m in an empty chatroom and ppl start coming in what are the codes to kick them out?
If anyone has the answer: let me know: I’m racking my brain thinking of ways to learn this cool trick!

Yo dis upgrade is hot it has the chat rooms built in so u aint got to type the name in and yahoo u can download files and view web cams and java script works and u can download software from the net but it don’t let u download music by its self u got to download like a music software thing like kaaza or limewire and they upgrade the space on ur phone so u can have more ringtones and files to download games and stuff and u can use ur camera to use as a web cam and show people

sorry for the delay mel but in responce to your questions the sim center has options for you to transfer the contacts on your simcard directly to the phone, it also has a guard to block certain numbers you allow to be blocked so it can not be called out from your phone. and nope you can not watch videos nor play any music filetypes thats whats sucks lol, and to the other people who was wondering when they are gonna get the ota 2.3 well only certain people got this cause this was a test run only about 5000 or so people actually receavied it, till the end of october or mayb even mid november is when most or hopefully all sidekick users will then receave there ota 2.3 update. ok byebye

Got my t mobile Sidekick 2 Unlocked today. http://www.sidekick-tech.tk do all sidekick unlocking remotely, they sent me cable and software to unlock – took 5 minutes and now it has full data services on my post pay and prepay cards. Really pleased.

Ok I have something to say. This will clear up somethings for people that didn’t get the OTA yet. I got the update the day they released it I was one of the testers. Now reading all of theese comments I seen that someone said that with the OTA 2.3 that you can download movies, music, have a web cam on yahoo, ECT.. THIS IS NOT TRUE I’m sure the person that posted this has not even gotten the OTA yet, I looked at almost all of theese comments but I got almost to the bottem and skiped to the end.. TO MANY OF THE SAME QUESTIONS! Here’s a common thing that need to be known by some people, unlocking a phone means to unlock it so you can use it on another network (example, using your sidekick with a cingular sim. This doesn’t mean to unlock it for ringtone uploading!). A few more things I would like to say is that emailing ringtones to your self cannont be uploaded to you phones ring tone folder if you own a T-Mobile branded phone. the only way this can be done is if your sidekick 2 is on the Fido network ( which would mean its branded by Fido ) becuse t-mobile is to stengy and they would be lost if they didn’t get the extra little bit of money they get from us for purchasing crapy ring tones! ( they truly SUCK! ) few more things to clear up… These are for the questions that didn’t get anwsered.. On the OTA 2.3 things that would normaly move on a computer will not move on a sidekick.. STILL! You can not stream music from webpages.. They did add it where you use pictures from you photo gallery for the lock screen! Java scirpt has been added! Well I think that’s all! Lol that was alot

Ok I have something to say. This will clear up somethings for people that didn’t get the OTA yet. I got the update the day they released it I was one of the testers. Now reading all of theese comments I seen that someone said that with the OTA 2.3 that you can download movies, music, have a web cam on yahoo, ECT.. THIS IS NOT TRUE I’m sure the person that posted this has not even gotten the OTA yet, I looked at almost all of theese comments but I got almost to the bottem and skiped to the end.. TO MANY OF THE SAME QUESTIONS! Here’s a common thing that need to be known by some people, unlocking a phone means to unlock it so you can use it on another network (example, using your sidekick with a cingular sim. This doesn’t mean to unlock it for ringtone uploading!). A few more things I would like to say is that emailing ringtones to your self cannont be uploaded to you phones ring tone folder if you own a T-Mobile branded phone. the only way this can be done is if your sidekick 2 is on the Fido network ( which would mean its branded by Fido ) becuse t-mobile is to stengy and they would be lost if they didn’t get the extra little bit of money they get from us for purchasing crapy ring tones! ( they truly SUCK! ) few more things to clear up… These are for the questions that didn’t get anwsered.. On the OTA 2.3 things that would normaly move on a computer will not move on a sidekick.. STILL! You can not stream music from webpages.. They did add it where you use pictures from you photo gallery for the lock screen! Java scirpt has been added! Well I think that’s all! Hello everyone. My name is Drew. I live in rochester NY. In total 20 of my friends including myself own the sk2. 8 of which have received the update. Put simply its just going to take time to send out. For the guy who asked earlier NO you can’t delete the update. I have seen the update and yes there are some special things but its not worth getting all freaked out about.

Hello everyone…
I just spent a good 45 minutes reading over all the comments people have left on this website. After doing so, I realized one thing that is for most certian… We all want our own ringtones!!! I know I do, becasue that’s the only reason I even stumbled on to this website. Anyway, here is an idea that might help us all…
Problem:
The “Dev Key” isn’t available anymore, unless you can prove that your a developer or you can get a developer to co-sign for you. Ok… I know that sucks ass, yes!
Proposed Solution(s):
But, there is a very easy way of getting around this bitchy problem. Here are my different strategies…
1.)
You, the very hardcore and talanted developers out there, can sell to us regular people, an authorized co-sign for a reasonable price. That way, under your co-sign we can also have our own “Dev Key.”
2.)
Instead of selling us your co-sign, you can sell to each of us, a simple yet unique bundle file (a build file needed to be uploaded in order to recieve a “Dev Key”) for a reasonable price, so that we ourselves claim it and use to recieve a key.
Whichever you smart developers choose to go with, you must also provide one other thing. A program simular to “Hiptone XP*”… So that we can use our aquired “Dev Keys” and then be able to change the default ringtones on our SKs into our own made or own aquired ringtones.
* Hiptone is a dev program released a while ago which enabled developers to do what we all are dying to do… Transfer over and dedicate music on our SKs as ringtones. They could add on new audio files along with the default, or even better, get rid of the default and replace with their own. Unfortunatly, Hiptone XP has been stopped. Also, after the update for the SK downloads, it will format the enitre system, causing your new ringtones to be deleted…
SO WE REALLY THIS TO COME THROUGH FOR US!!! DEVELOPERS HELP!!!

Okay….I have read all of the posts and I have not read anything about how to disable pop up blockers or firewalls. I do know how to disable and enable javascript….don’t need help with that. I am trying to watch this music video but every time I try to view it a message pops up saying “must disable pop up blockers”….how the hell do I do that sidekick geniuses…..help!

Okay to everyone that wants to get your own ringtones TOO BAD because the only way to do that is with hiptones which is/was only available if you have a developers key. The only way to get a dev key is to be able to program. So therefore if you want to get your own ringtones learn to code in java. I’m definately taking a class in Java and C++ (to make nintendo ds games) next semester so I know I will have a dev key before too long but you idiots can’t compile a full gramatically correct sentence much less a valid hiptop application. Those of you who I’m not referring to know who you are yet those of you who I believe should die a lonely death and be left to rot and be picked at by buzzards in the sahara desert probably believe I’m talking to someone else.
Oh yeah, has anyone else gotten a little too used to the sidekicks auto correct? When using AIM on my computer my grammar goes to shit now. il doesn’t switch to I’ll on a PC :P

Ok this kind of sucks. I got the update (thanks gaymes) but I still can’t dowload/upload. Can’t write on Xanga.com anymore…. And some other bullshit. Blah. The only cool thing is that you can see more colors and other useless stuff (thanks to Javascrypt) . But, they didn’t update the browser. So can’t do much.

Found a site you can listen to music on your sidekick. Browse through hundreds of songs, They email you full songs in like secounds, can’t make them to ringtones =(

ok for those of you who cant wait for the update 2.3 heres how you can get it …
i would post why it works but judging from a lot of your comments most of you wouldnt under stand
lets start
1 go to jump screen+then meun .. selct conrols and then wireless (turn it on and off three times… the last time leaveing it on) exit out of this screen and then to main screen
2.. press jump+shift+s buttons then look for the syslog to say updating memory notifiction or a series of #’s by the word bytes ,this is is a good sign that your update is coming
3look at the g7 and see if the 7 wiggles non-stop …. if it stops wiggling proceed to turn your sidekik no/off watch athe 7 again, continue to repeat this step untill the 7 is wiggling non-stop
4… after the 7 is wiggling non-stop repeat step2 and dont touch your sidekik , leave it on that jump screen and wait for the system to promt you to update your sidekick
you need to sign out off aol and be in a place where recieving a signal is not a problem the whole procees takes about 30 to 45 mins but it works
for those of you just looking to learn more about thier sidekick’s go to customizedsidekickz.com

Wowww thanks toomannygames it wworked I restarted my phone about 30 times and I went to newtwork statuts and hit jump m and after the bytes recived went above the averagre rate(4.7kb-5kb) and kept rising itt work my reached up to 2mb !! Yeh its cool

Someone should just take all the memory and the stupid sk2software off it and put windows on it. For those of you still wanting actual music on ur sk2 1. there is too many codes to put mp3 and 2. there isnt enough memory for it anyway. maybe ill sell this and buy an iPAQ, this stuff is too frustraiting and isnt worth while anymore.

You have to have your sidekick activated for 60-90 days in order for T-mobile to unlock your device. At leasts thats whut they told me! But be careful overseas! They don’t tell you it costs $15 per MB!

to get a blank black screen (doesnt kill ur sidekick) and prevent screen burn in in the main jump screen hit 3bars (menu) + shift + m and your screen wiil go black, to return from the black screen hit the back button.

Hello, my name is Anthony.This is my first time on this site.As I read most of everyone’s comments, I realize some are true others are just bullshit. Anyways like many of the people on this page I also have a sk2 & curiosity led me here. I don’t know much about half the things the people on this page are talking about, but I’m very interested in learning anything about my sk2. Please I need an Urgent respond to this as fast as possible. Actually I fell in Love with this Phone (T-Mobile Side Kick II) And my brother got the phone for me from US together with the SIM and all that. I removed the SIM and was using the now here in my Country. Cuz right now Im in African and right now Im having a big problem using the phone here. I can recieve calls but I cant make call and I dont have access using the other features like: Surfing the net and all that stuff.. i have found a hack to get through the privacy lock on the sidekick 2 (dont know if this works on the sidekick 1).
1) go to the screen where you enter the code
2) press the menu and jump buttons together
3) press all four of the buttons at the same time (it will take a few tries) (the four buttons: menu, cancel, back, and jump)
4) you should now be at the jump screen bypassing the privacy lock. now you can do whatever you want on it, but be sure to change it to a code you can remember.

I recently found out that the Nokia 6610i is capable of being programed for use as a spy phone. I found that out on my local tv newscast doing a piece about spy phones available on the net. So I started to google the Nokia 6610i to find out how to do it, but could only find vendors that sell them, not any information on how to do it. And before you think they are special phons that have been modified internally, they are not, because the news segment interviewed a Nokia spokesperson and she said that they are programed by key code, but did not go into detail. So since you guys are connected to a vast array of contacts that would probably know how to do it, could you email me the instructions. Thank You!

everyone wanting to upload RINGTONES, here it is…:
1.)edit any part of a song u want as your ringtone, smaller than 15seconds, or it will not work. save it to your computer…
2.)email the snip as an attachment and send it to your sk2…
3.)go on your sk2 and open the received email and scroll down untill you see the attachment, it will say play ringtone, and add to ringtones.
4.)you’re done. a good program to use to edit your audio is “blaze media pro”, u can download it off the net for free.

Hey, I don’t know if it was covered or not, but if you hit the top left corner button …then go to settings, then system info….then it’ll bring up a window with a bunch of info……hold the top left button while also holding shift and s and it’ll bring up a diagnostics window which allows you to play with some of the phones features….enjoy

the sidekick 2 has a secrect game hidden inside the programs. to acsess this press the the button that has the 3 stripes and goot to settings then go ABOUT SIDEKICK an screen will appear then hold down the button with the 3 strips then hold down shift then tap #8 and the game comes on. have fun

Y the hell u guys still using sidekick 2 it its 2008 just a couple days of 2009 the sidekick 2008 came out get it as for java script it is enabled automaticly or go to ur web browser settings and turn java script on ok and use the new sidekick loooooool

I know how to put full songs on my side kick 3 but you have to have this chip in your phone to do it in a usb cord also that stupid hack for the java was a joke. It didn’t work at all But plz if you know how to hak the side kick 3 to be able to change the options for java you have my email

so i read all these comments and alot wer helpfull as to differant trics on the phone but no deffenant answer on how to unloc the phone… im not a developer and rely dont wish to be but if thats the only way how does someone become a develpoer…??? i just bought a used sidekick 2 because i droped my other phone in a lake and i know id love the unlocked version of the phone but otherwise this prety high tech device is rely just lame… is it at all worth buying a new newer version, is there less BS?? plz somone hit me back with that unlock code or some usfull advise

Umm idk fa sure but ya can try the differnt soft resets and the hard reset, try to hold w whn turnin on ya phone, or @+1+0, or pressin the button by the battery, not 100% on those but one should do the trick
