SparkFun’s Free Day Is Nearly Upon Us…

As I’m sure many of you already now, today is January 7th. While that might not have any real significance normally, today this means that our favorite hobby supplier, SparkFun, is giving away up to $100,000 of electronic goodness. We know we have our shopping carts filled to the brim, and we’re sure that most of you do too. With the start of Free Day being roughly 10 minutes away, we recommend that everyone man their shopping carts…. This should be interesting…

  1. EDIT FROM FRENCIL:

    Wow!

Our site has been up and down today from the unprecedented load we’re seeing. We’re tuning our entire site, top to bottom and inside and out to handle this torrent. We’re also shaving off a few features of the website (temporarily) to make everything faster, such as rating comments. After Free Day has passed we’ll re-enable everything we’ve disabled to weather the storm.

Feel free to join the conversation on our public irc channel: irc.freenode.net #sparkfun

  2. Awesome. Now a WIRE in my setup is backordered… so I can either a) go back to the cart, remove that wire, and pray I can get back to where I am now or b) pay another 4.50 in shipping to get that wire sent to me.

Assuming, of course, I can successfully get to the checkout.

  3. woot i think i made it!!!!!!!!!
Your order number is blhbalh. Please keep this number for your records.

We will email you shortly confirming that your order has been received and is being processed.

You can monitor the status of your order through the Order Tracking page.

  4. Alright! I finally got through.

    Tips:
-If you didn’t add things to your shopping cart before last night, forget about it.
-Use firefox, disable automatic loading of images in the preferences.
-You can only use a credit card or paypal. I strongly suggest a credit card.
-Consider going into firefox’s about:config and upping network.http.keep-alive.timeout a little. I’m not sure if they are using consistent connections, but if they are, this could really help you out!

I got 3 steppers, 3 stepper controllers and an ftdi 3.3v usb->serial board. I have been thinking of buying these regardless for quite some time.

    Thanks sparkfun!
