  1. Neat trick, but it’s not really battery-free, is it? The device is an inert piece by itself, not reading or displaying or recording anything. It requires an external power supply and a display and a whole frickin OS and app ecosystem to perform its function.

    I have a zipper fob with an alcohol thermometer in it. Works great. No batteries required, works even with mittens on, but I admit it isn’t precise to 0.1 degrees.

    Other than braggin’ rights (which is totally legitimate), what’s a use case for this?

    1. If it jad its own display (perhaps e-ink or some kind of dial), you could steal the energy from NFC readers in stores, public transport, security doors, other people’s phones etc., since it really only needs the NF and not the C.

  2. How warm are secure keys most of the time? Hint, pockets and hand held operation. That’s a poor place for a air temperature reading. High accuracy wasted. Great project on it’s own.
