there are a few reports floating around that suggest that bittorrent is 35% of the internet’s traffic, which seems like bs, regardless, if you do use bittorrent here are some helpful hints on configuring your router to get the best download speeds.

also here’s how to configure an apple airport extreme base station (aebs) and apple macintosh computer for firewall port forwarding. the apple airportĀ  extreme base station includes a built-in firewall that will decrease your bittorrent download speedsĀ  unless you enable port forwarding to your mac.

Ipod Photo Diagnostic Mode

so i picked up an ipod photo so i can write some articles and hacks with it (see the sacrifices i make!)–wait until ya’ll see what i’ve got cookin. any way, i’m a little bummed that the ipod remote doesn’t actually advance, play or pause the photo slideshows, but pressing the buttons on the ipod does. so, i’m starting to hack around to see what i can come up with. here’s something i found that might be useful for other things, the ipod photo diagnostic mode which allows you to test a few things, we also posted up the ipod remote data earlier.

The Ultra-simple Hovercraft

over on tech tv today they had the cast tooling around on a hoverboard made out of a leaf blower, plastic skirt and some plywood. the design is so simple, it’s something that i think we’ll see a lot of iterations of with a lot more tech added and it used in more places.

speaking of…the weblogsinc network has a pretty cool new blog about traveling, today they had geocaching and some other techy travel stuff, check them out too if you plan to travel and want to think of things to hack around with when you get there. i might send some ideas over for messing with stuff in hotels, hehe.
