DIY Projector From A Pocket TV

diy projector tv

since DIY projectors are all the rage, we thought it’d be cool if you could make one for yourself. you know, when you have that urge to go out and show the public your artsy film work. well now it’s possible, cheap, and effective thanks to this DIY projector made from wood, a pocket tv, magnifying lens, and some other stuff. you’ll need one of those old school pocket TVs (yes you’ll need a color one if you want color silly) from the 1980s to get it goin, but after that it’s smooth sailing.

thanks [stewart]

The Dirkon Paper Camera

Dirkon Camera

now this is something. apparently back in the 1970s when communism was all the rage, it was hard to get a hold of decent magazines so people would share them. one magazine though roughly translated to “An ABC of Young Technicians and Natural Scientists” published an article showing how to make a fully functional camera out of stiff paper. yes, its 35mm too. it’s called the “Dirkon” paper camera and obviously bears a pun to the tune of nikon. there’s even a few sample photos to go along with how to make it. we wanna see someone make a modern day one

Hackaday Links

Links

back with hackaday links. they’re delicious, fresh, and full of fun. let’s get started.

there’s rackmount servers, then there’s rackmount nintendo [Jon]

not quite virtual boy, but it’ll look the same. bust out some insanely cool images with a digital mechanical laser projector [m0th]

the mini cooper has come a long way. but the original was one small car, one that apparently was a great idea for making a gigantic lifesized robot that looks like it’s out to kill everyone [carson]

we’ve all gotten lost in the woods before. however, now we can get lost a make a fire because with a coke can and a chocolate bar, you can light anything you want on fire. awesome. [Joachim]

parallel lcd fun doesn’t always come cheap, but it’s still fun. [ian]

Hackaday Lazy Afternoons

Lazy Afternoons

it’s gloomy, school’s out, and the couch is our best friend.
it must be time for another hackaday lazy afternoon!

back once again with wednesday’s insanely lazy afternoon. college has gotten out for awhile for most of us and we’re finding a lot of spare time. normally i’d throw a speech your way, but you readers sent in some great content over the weekend, so let’s get right to it!

don’t ask me why you still have one of these, but if you do, make it bigger, better, stronger.
e-mail [xblackdemon] if you demand turning a 720k drive into a 1.44mb drive. again, not on us.

putting a game on a TI-92 calculator could be considered a hack because it’s not the norm for the calculator’s purpose

Gameboy Belt Buckle

gameboy belt buckle

oh yeah. this is what the world needs next in mass production. now before you start yelling at me over belt buckles and nintendo’s obsession with them, let me point out this is not the NES belt buckle you all saw awhile back (though both are insanely cool and nostalgic) nor is this the game boy floppy disk drive we showed you. this is the work of an artist and hacker. one that isn’t afraid to make a statement with a working game boy strapped on as a belt buckle. the link provided shows you the play by play of how it’s made and how it’s applied and chromed out. within hours you’ll be sporting your bling bling belt buckle in all it’s nintendo glory. plus, take it to parties and insist that chicks play some link’s awakening and if they don’t get you past the first dungeon, there will be consequences. thanks [FRANKLI]

the links are back and are aplenty after a rainy weekend. let’s get down and dirty with what you guys sent over the weekend and what shines the prettiest.

nothing like old 1900-esque wooden knobs for your devices [seesoe]

nothing new except it’s a full size IDE drive. bigger is better? [calvin]
googletalk making a comeback? we’ll see. [thomas]
who could resist a gingerbread server… [barbobot]
if you dig telephones, mice, and are desperate: seek refuge here [John]
making a fox turn into a bot [max s.]
spuds ahoy [carson]

and our man [patriko] says to hell with tv-b-gone and to check this out. we agree.
