take the idea of wi-fi and make mo-better, here’s a great how-to on making an access point that will any where with a cell signal all with an old ibook running linux, and a gprs based smartphone. it’s not a speedy connection, but that’s not the point. nicely done.
i have this rc helicopter that i am thinking of converting to a bluetooth controller, just to see if it’s possible. so after digging around, i found this hack and how-to on outfitting a rc car to run bluetooth and control it with a phone. the site also includes the source code to run on a nokia series 60 bluetooth enabled phone.
a couple people sent this one in (thanks)–turn an old looking phone in to a bluetooth headset. in this example from tech tv uses a jabra bluetooth headset and an old fashion phone to make a seriously pointless, yet cool, bluetooth headset.

i was looking around for some resources on making cheap wifi antennas. please post up your own of course, this one is from new zealand and serves up antenna e made from chinese cookware only setting you back $5 with range extensions up to 10 miles.

i thought it was clever to boost the itrip mini with my lame little hack, and change what’s playing on cars next to me at stop lights, and then this project blows that out of the broadcasting waters. be sure to check with your local laws and all that before broadcasting with this “proof of concept” itrip amp.

i’m using vonage, the voice over ip service, and it turns out you can get a special type of add-on called a “softphone account” which allows you to use software on a mac, pc, linux computer to make and receive phone calls as well. turns out you can use just about any wi-fi enable pocket pc as phone too.
