$125 Off The Evalbot Is A Steal

When you see $125 off something you probably assume it cost several times that to start with. Nope, this drastic discount leaves just $25 plus shipping. Use coupon-code: 2JLP-R4XRT3 when ordering the little rover. There’s a quick video snippet of it embedded after the break.

What you’ll get is a Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller on a board with a bunch of goodies.

  • MicroSD slot
  • USB host and device connectors
  • I2C audio with speakers
  • Ethernet connector
  • 96×6 OLED display
  • Motors
  • Optosensors
  • Bump detectors

As always, we want to hear about the hacks you come up with once you have this little guy in hand.

[update, the code is now expired]

[final update — Someone from TI explains what is going on.]

—-  from the comments.

As some posts already note, the coupon code is only available to ESC Boston attendees. That said, we’re psyched about all of your interest and understand there seems to have been some confusion, so TI plans to fulfill all of the finalized orders to date. We’re working on some logistics in getting the code up and running again for ESC Boston attendees, but proof of ESC registration will be required. Stay tuned.

We hear you about the e-store and are working as quickly as possible to avoid issues in the future. Thanks for your patience.

Bottom line – we’re glad to see the excitement around EVALBOT and look forward to checking out your projects! We encourage you to share them on our e2e Forums at http://e2e.ti.com/

  1. All the people that are bitching about shipping times need to STFU and realize what a hell of a deal they are getting.

Be patient. This was never supposed to happen in the first place, so chill!

  2. Just got mine, was able to program it with the sample uC/OS code from micrium and the sample code from the IAR kickstart edition (make sure to slow down the jtag speed in the programming options, I used 100kHz).
First impressions show that this is the best $25 deal in a long time.

@Malte: mines a B1, make sure to enable the USB power supply in host AND device mode, check the errata.

  3. @Brian

Sooooo…. Maybe you should just get a remote control bot at radio shack? I fail to understand why you’d buy something like this when you don’t even have the very basic skills that are necessary to figure it out…. Lol.

  4. Jake, he was just wondering what kind of dev tools people are or plan on using. I was wondering the same thine, as I’d imagine there are a few options. He asked nicely, so take it easy on the guy. Some of us here are new, but at least we have an interest.

  5. I grow weary of people who ask how to do something without trying first. It’s never “This is what I am doing, and it’s not working any suggestions?” anymore. It’s always “I don’t even want to try, just tell me how to do it.

    Understand? Grrr.

  6. Exactly! I have had so many people share information with me allowing me to learn things I would not have been able to otherwise. Sharing technical knowledge empowers people and improves society.

  7. @Jake
They only want to get on the right track, without losing time on incomplete/non functional tools.
I’ve had the same problems in the past, so I can totally understand them.

  8. @bakuteh
Mine is #6972… but since the first bots were delivered my hopes are high.
Anyway, the estore is down again today… did I miss some another incredible deal?

  9. @JackTheVendicator
Yeah, I’m still keeping my hopes high. I noticed on their page for the evalbot, it says that if they check that u r not on their attendees list, they will cancel the order. So since my order’s status is still “processing” there may be a good chance that it will come thru.

I visited the estore a few hours back and it was accessible.

  10. Anybody notice this?

Please note: ESC Boston attendees received a special coupon for a highly discounted EVALBOT. As of October 11th, we have re-enabled use of the ESC Boston coupon code and extended the expiration date of the coupon code by 1 week. Please be aware that use of the code will be validated against the ESC Boston attendee list. Use of the coupon code will result in approximately a 24-hour delay before firm confirmation of your order; coupon code uses for non-ESC Boston attendees will be canceled. Either way, approximately 24 hours after your order, you will receive an email either confirming your order with a firm delivery date, or informing you that your order has been canceled. If your order is canceled, your credit card will not be charged.

  11. This s*cks. I placed my order on Oct/4 (low 6000’s) and it is still “processing”. They took the order they should follow through. It is their mistake they did not check whether I was an ESC Boston Attendee in the first place. A contract is a contract. Now they just delay and delay and delay. Perhaps I will contact BBB.

  12. The coupon code was intended for ESC Boston attendees, but we are honoring orders that were confirmed before an update/clarification about the coupon code was posted on TI’s estore. As many experienced, there were issues with TI’s estore due to the volume of orders, but we’ve worked aggressively to address those issues. As some have reported, some orders have shipped. we have an email confirming orders and providing your order’s anticipated ship date that was supposed to have gone out to those of you with confirmed orders; from your comments, it appears that email hasn’t yet gone out. Be looking for it.

    Let me summarize:
    * The $25 Stellaris EVALBOT coupon code was intended for ESC Boston attendees
    * TI is honoring all orders that used the coupon code before we posted the clarification about the use of the code on the TI estore Stellaris EVALBOT ordering page
    * Credit cards will not be charged until the order ships
    * Orders placed after the coupon code clarification receive either: (1) a follow-up final confirmation for valid coupon code users, or (2) an email indicating that the order has been cancelled for invalid users of the coupon code

The enthusiasm around EVALBOT is awesome, and we can’t wait to see where you take the technology. It’s clear to us that we need to keep providing these types of easy-to-use, fun tools along with ways to salute your innovation. Stay tuned!

  13. 25 days passed and I did not receive any other email than the original Order Confirmation. My order says “Waiting to Ship”. That’s some wait, by this rate I’ll get the bot in 2012 if I am lucky.
I think TI dropped the ball on this one.

  14. #6104 only received the original email. The status has been the same since 10/04: “order placed, Payment Authorized, Waiting to Ship”. Wondering whether TI would actually honor it.

  15. Come on people, TI is apparently doing their best to honour orders placed before coupon code clarification. I am not surprised that they are overwhelmed with the sheer number of requests! Just give them time!

Way to go Jean Anne, thanks for the update! Kudos to TI!

    K.

  16. Props to TI for supporting the Hobbyist Community!

Those that are “Sookin” bout it need to have their order cancelled on principal… (prolly the same folks that bitch cause their “downloaded” games don’t run right…) :)

  17. ^I’m with stupid.

Incredible how much people can whine.

I can only applaud TI did not cancel the orders, are trying to ramp up production and get the thing out there to your doorstep for an incredible cheap price point.
