“If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.” [Carl Sagan]. If you wish to make preserved lemons the same way as [Uri Tuchman], you have to start with that mentality. Video also below. The recipe for [Uri]’s preserved lemons involves two ingredients see sea salt, and sliced lemons, but we don’t expect you came here looking for a recipe and the food is less important than the journey.
Recipes take for granted that we have all the necessary utensils on hand, but what if you are missing one? What if you are missing all of them? Life’s lemons won’t get the best of us, and if we’re utensil-poor and tool-rich we will make those lemons regret trying to take a bite out of us. The first fixture for cutting lemons is a cutting board, then a knife, and finally an airtight container. We see him make all of them from stock material by hand. Does that seem like a lot of work? You forgot that if you’re going to eat up, you’ll need a serving platter and fork. If he ever opens a restaurant, don’t expect it to be fast food.
Maybe humans will only need one tool in the kitchen someday but at least one cat receives food from a single silicone-brained tool.
Thank you [Rashi Abramson], for the tip.
I’m disappointed he didn’t make the pan to cook the fish
I am surprised he didn’t build the stove . Now what was this video about???? Lost interest half way through.
That was tedious.
A large pair of kitchen scissors/shears could work for cutting up meat, vegetables.
What is the role of the airtight container in cutting lemons?
Just watch the video. All will be revealed in time. (it’s preserved lemons, so the container is for the salting)
No, I will not watch the video. But I will wager dollars to donuts that the airtight container plays no role in the cutting process.

I just recently subscribed to his YouTube channel. This bit was hilarious and very tongue-in-cheek. I’ve been on the path he followed, you start out with a goal and realize you need to add a few steps and side journeys to the plan.
Currently watching his episode on making a beginning graver set. Dude’s got talents.
Yak shaving.
Meh, if you want fast food… go chase an emu.
A big glass jar is like $2 in IKEA.. use that instead.
Or in this case, he clearly has a glass jar already that he uses at 2:05 for quenching the steel.
What If he decides to grow some vegetables and needs a pile of dung?
my wife and I have watched and anticipated every video of his since the Mechanical Pencil episode. Hand filing gears got me hooked
I bet if Uri wanted Eggs Benedict he’d build his own chicken!
